Summary of the online course

Course "Implant prosthetics in the aesthetic zone: digital technology" by Dr. Massimo Frossechi, member of the Italian Academy of Microscopic Dentistry and the Italian Academy of Osseointegration. In this lecture will be illustrated the most common and easy to do procedures for planning with dedicated software who match SLT files and DICOM files. After planning, clinician can decide to move to surgery with different digital approaches: Transfer the desired teeth position with a 3D printed prosthetic guide or with a more strict computer guide. There will be demonstrated the post-production and finalization by a hand made process.

Course programme

  • Digital world has definitely become a daily useful group of procedures in implant dentistry. From digital photography, to digital radiology to digital impression to the final steps of prosthetic harvesting.
  • In this lecture I illustrate the most common and easy to do procedures for planning with dedicated softwares who match SLT files and DICOM files. After planning, clinicians can decide to move to surgery with different digital approaches: Transfer the desired teeth position with a 3D printed prosthetic guide or with a more strict computer guide.
  • After implant positioning and healing period, an intra-oral scan or a conventional technique can be used for impression. Lab will untile in both cases, digital workflow to produce pieces and just at the end of the process will be realized the post-production and finalization by a hand made process.

  • Immediate loading require a very complex and complete planning procedure in order to ensure a prosthetically driven implant positioning and a high level of primary stability.
  • After planning, clinician need a way to transfer the project into the surgery. This stage is nowadays possible with different devices, all obtained from digital workflow. Temporary bridge and long term bridge are also produced with a digital approach.
